Jerry Dickinson’s campaign for Pennsylvania’s 12th congressional district announced today that it has been endorsed by the Teamsters Joint Council No. 40—which is composed of nearly 20,000 individual members and 14 affiliate locals across Pennsylvania. Teamsters Joint Council No. 40 is an affiliate of the Allegheny-Fayette Central Labor Council.

“When it comes to the kind of representative Pennsylvania’s 12th congressional district needs, the choice is obvious,” Carl Bailey, president of the Teamsters Joint Council No. 40 said in a statement. “Jerry Dickinson has worked hard his whole life to get where he is today. We know he will work hard on behalf of organized labor in Washington. While other candidates have failed working people in Western Pennsylvania, Jerry has always found a way to get things done.”

“I’m incredibly honored to have the support from the Teamsters Joint Council No. 40,” Jerry Dickinson, candidate for Congress in PA-12, said in a statement. “The Teamsters represent thousands of employees in transportation, warehouse, manufacturing, and public service jobs across Western Pennsylvania. I will fight in Washington to ensure that the right to organize is guaranteed to all workers.”

Dickinson’s campaign has been endorsed by 12 local elected officials and 5 community leaders, including former PA Democrats chairman Jim Burn, Allegheny County Councilor Olivia Bennett, and Allegheny County Councilor Paul Klein.

Jerry Dickinson is a constitutional law professor at the University of Pittsburgh, and a Democratic candidate for the U.S. House of Representatives in Pennsylvania’s 12th congressional district. A product of the foster system in Pittsburgh, Dickinson saw firsthand the systematic challenges that cause and perpetuate social and racial inequality. He beat the odds and has dedicated his life to tackling the structural problems he has witnessed and lived through. In Congress, he will bring the energy and perspective needed to lift those left behind, and truly create opportunity for all.
