Despite significant inroads over the last decade, members of the LGBTQI+ community continue to face discrimination in all facets of life. We can do better.
Jerry supports amending the Civil Rights Act of 1964 to prohibit discrimination based on sexual orientation and and gender identity in public accommodations and updating the public spaces and services covered in the law to include retail stores, banks, legal services, healthcare provides, and transportation services. Jerry supports federal non-discrimination protections for LGBTQI+ people in employment, housing, education, and other areas. Jerry opposes the use of Medicaid funds to pay for harmful practices like conversion therapy. Jerry also believes that current state and federal laws, including the Supreme Court jurisprudence, inadequately addresses the civil liberties and individual rights of the trans-community, and will work tirelessly to enact legislation to enhance those protections.
