Jerry is a strong proponent of just and humane immigration policies. He has extensive experience as a law professor advocating for major immigration reform. In 2017, Jerry was invited to submit written testimony at a hearing before the U.S. Senate’s Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs regarding the constitutionality of the Trump Administration’s Executive Order 13767 mandating the construction of a border wall along the U.S.-Mexico border. Jerry also published numerous editorials in The Hill, The Washington Post and The Atlantic arguing against the Trump Administrations xenophobic and anti-immigration agenda.
Jerry supports the DREAM Act, DACA and DAPA. He is a proponent of sanctuary cities and supports reforming our immigration laws and enacting programs that reduce and eliminate the inhumane and brutal immigration detention and mass deportation policies. He also believes that the inhumane treatment of migrants in detention along the southwest border is in violation of civil and human rights and will fight to overhaul the country’s asylum process.
